Keratoconus is a degenerative eye disease of the cornea causing it to thin and bulge.

The exact cause of keratoconus is unknown, but it slowly changes the cornea from the normal round shape to a cone shape. Keratoconus involves a defect in collagen, the tissue responsible for the integrity of the cornea.
